OnePlus celebrated its 9th year as a tech brand today (17.12.2022) and decided to mark the occasion with a public message that described its “revival’cause it’s on to the next 9.
The live keynote, delivered by co-founder Pete Lau, focused largely on OnePlus’ ongoing relationship with its parent company OPPO in reality.
The 2 organizations have become more transparent about their ties over the past few years, which now appear to be evolving into a new “dual brand“A strategy that serves different tiers and use cases in their market.
They will then continue to pool resources for production as well as R&D in a way that will see OPPO’s more advanced prototypes hit the market as OnePlus products in the future. To that end, the former plans to invest 10 billion yuan (~1.43 billion USD) into the latter over the next 3 years.
This, according to Lau, will allow OnePlus to focus on “quality“Products, even at the expense of its profit margin. So there’s plenty of time left in this live conference to confirm that the long-rumored 11 is on the way.
The announcement came with an inaugural teaser video that reveals a switch to the round camera notch on this 10 Pro successor, complete with the placement of an Alert Slider and the Hasselblad logo.
OnePlus is already introducing its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered phone as “future performance leader“defined”challenge the industry’s many impossibilities“, although the brand still prefers its favorite phrase”soon“For now, it’s revealing the launch date.

Soon after graduation, I became a professional writer and editor. My degrees are in biomedical sciences. However, they led to some experience in biotechnology that convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, the environment, and life in general. This evolved over time into a widespread interest in more aspects of technology; I can never write enough about the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include illustration, astronomy and all things flow. Oh, and the coffee.
