Apple’s next-generation HomePod will be released “pretty soon“by well connected Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman.
Apple discontinued the original HomePod in March 2021, reportedly due to low sales, but the high-end smart speaker still has plenty of fans, and a new full-sized HomePod has been rumored for some time to return.
Gurman previously said he doesn’t expect the new HomePod to be “revolutionary,” but it will have a more competitive price, an updated touch control panel on top, and an S8 chip from the latest Apple Watch models.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also said that Apple is working on an updated version of the HomePod that could arrive in the first quarter of 2023.
Gurman’s latest comments came after him confirmed news that Apple is going to introduce two new products on Tuesday. Recent rumors, coupled with hints found in a Canadian regulatory database, suggest that Apple may be introducing the next-generation 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, but otherwise nothing has been confirmed.
