James Gunn has shocked many DC fans with his announcement that he will be writing the upcoming Superman reboot without Henry Cavill. Instead of a traditional Superman origin story, Variety claims that this film will follow a young Clark Kent as he starts out as a reporter for the Daily Planet and meets Lois Lane. This follows a recent trend of comic book movies ignoring the origins of familiar superheroes like Batman and Spider-Man.

While many fans were looking forward to Cavill’s supposed return as Superman after Black AdamThis rebooted Man of Steel movie, which Gunn is writing himself, should be intriguing to say the least. It Guardians of the Galaxy The director has had great success adapting space superheroes for live-action, and he even helped write 2019’s Superman Horror Movie. Brightburn. Gunn seems like the perfect fit to bring a new Superman to theaters, but there are a lot of things his movie would have to do to do the hero justice.

Clarke as an investigative reporter

A lot like Matt Reeves Batman James Gunn’s Superman film centers on the detective skills of a female vigilante who must use her intelligence as an investigative reporter to stop the film’s main antagonist. Perhaps a supervillain like Lex Luthor or Darkseid could be leading a major criminal conspiracy in Metropolis that Clark must uncover in order to save the city.

Superman has displayed extraordinary intelligence that should make him as great a detective as Batman. His super-sensitive hearing, X-ray vision, and microscopic vision should also come in handy for investigating crime scenes. But that doesn’t mean Supes has to act alone. Lois Lane has also proven to be an exceptional investigative reporter and should serve as his partner on the field.

Many enemies of Superman

By HBO Max/Warner Media

While Superman may not have the most famous rogues gallery, that’s because many of his greatest enemies haven’t been used on the big screen. Villains like Darkseid, Brainiac, Bizarro, Metallo, Mongul, and Lobo didn’t get much of a chance to make their mark against Man of Steel in theaters, so the reboot could be weak let Superman’s underused foes shine.

Batman With success, the main character faced several villains such as Catwoman, Penguin, Riddler, Carmine Falcone and even Joker. Let’s say Superman investigates a web of crimes in Metropolis in this new movie. In that case, the story can introduce many of the protagonist’s antagonists and make them all part of this plot to create a unique yet cohesive story.

A more comic-accurate Lex Luthor

Clay Enos/Entertainment Weekly

Jesse Eisenberg’s eccentric Lex Luthor was an acquired taste that many disliked. Introducing a new Luthor to match his comic book counterpart could revive the iconic supervillain for the new DC Universe.

The filmmakers should also take cues from some of the most beloved versions of the ruthless and exhausted scientist, such as Jon Cryer (Arrowverse), Clancy Brown (DC Animated Universe) and Michael Rosenbaum (Michael Rosenbaum).Smallville) Audiences will also get to see him go head-to-head with Superman in his high-tech “suit,” which could show how Lex can compete with the Man of Steel.

A more optimistic Superman

Superman is in! "Superman and Lois."

One of the biggest problems with Man of Steel in the DC Extended Universe audience was the dark tone surrounding the character and his first two films. For many, Cavill’s Superman just didn’t feel like the symbol of hope the world knew and loved. While Christopher Reeves’ Superman defined the character of the hero, Tyler Hoechlin’s run as Superman has been hailed as one of the best.

The last version of the hero should serve as an example of how to portray Superman in the modern world. The CW series Superman and Lois displayed just the right balance of light-hearted optimism and grounded realism to bring to the character in the DC films.

The launch of the new Justice League

DC:

James Gunn looks set to wipe the pages of the entire Justice League with an ending Wonder woman and: Aquaman films. This will likely pave the way for Gunn to introduce a new version of the League, which will be easier this time since moviegoers are already familiar with the origins of most of the members.

However, if Gunn plans to create a new super team for the DC Universe, he needs to plant the seeds for it as soon as possible. Just like Iron man created the Avengers formation, Gunn’s Superman movie could end with the Man of Steel being approached by someone like Batman, planning to create an iconic group of heroes to protect Earth.
