A vegetarian woman has gone viral on TikTok after claiming that all vegetarians eat meat occasionally on ‘cheat days’.

The self-proclaimed vegetarian divided viewers after suggesting that everyone who follows a vegetarian diet should indulge in non-vegetarian food once in a while.

“If you ask me, I will lie and say. “No, I never eat meat, never, never, never. I love animals,” the TikToker confessed in the viral clip that has garnered 2.9 million views.

“I’ve been vegetarian for seven years and right here, this brie and prosciutto pizza from Fortinos, is my only cheat,” she said, holding a slice of non-vegetarian pizza.

“I have this every few months, and I’m telling you, every vegetarian out there is getting scammed,” she said. “And if they say they don’t, they’re lying to you.”

TikTok split over demand for vegetarian ‘cheat days’

In the comments, many users criticized the content creator, saying that he cannot call himself a vegetarian.

“It’s called not being a vegetarian,” wrote one TikTok user. “It’s a lifestyle not a diet when you have cheat days,” added another.

“There’s nothing wrong with eating a mostly plant-based diet, but if you have a special cheat meal, you’re not really a vegetarian,” commented a third.

Other vegetarians took to the comments to refute her claim.

“I’ve been a vegetarian for 11 years and I really don’t [cheat day.] I didn’t bite meat then,” said one.

“No girl. I was born a vegetarian and am now a vegetarian. I worry if I accidentally eat meat or dairy products,” wrote another.

“I don’t, I literally can’t. A few years ago I accidentally ate bacon and started burping,” shared a third.

One user suggested that a TikToker is a flexi, someone who follows a vegetarian diet but occasionally eats meat or fish.
