This year, the editors at Bon Appétit started taking a close look at one of our favorite things: all the silly, goofy, awesome, and also terrible moments in internet culture. We’ve seen the rise and fall and rise of Pink Sauce, and we’ve watched Green M&M’s go from a lure to a luxury. We warmed our hearts to the Corn Kid and we loved butter bars until we didn’t. Some were delicious, others disturbing, and we scored them all as they flooded our social media feeds and came up in our group chats.
As the year comes to a close, we’ve decided to revisit the year’s biggest food world protagonists. Who was the tastiest? Who was the saddest? And when it’s all said and done, who will we still remember when the Internet starts up again tomorrow?
