The Sony Xperia 5 IV is a smartphone with character. Sony has decided to give the device a 21:9 aspect ratio and features that are hard to find these days, such as a microSD slot, a notification LED, and an audio jack.
During our review, the Xperia 5 IV delivered an impressive performance thanks to its Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The phone is also equipped with an ultra-wide and a zoom camera, both in full apart from the main camera. Although all cameras are only 12 MP, they produce good images as long as there is enough light.
The internal memory has a capacity of 128 GB and will not break the speed record. But it is also not inferior to the storage of competing phones. One of the main advantages of the Xperia 5 IV is that it allows users to expand the memory capacity using a microSD card. The phone supports cards up to 1TB in size.
Sony is currently offering a $200/€150/£150 discount on the Xperia 5 IV, bringing the price down to $798/€849/£849. The device is available in only one configuration (128GB storage and 8GB RAM) and three colors: black, green and white.
Of course, you may find even lower prices on shopping search engines, but not at any major retailers. Sony is selling the Xperia 5 IV at these prices not only on their online store but also on the Amazon Store.
Technology and journalism have always gone together in my past. However, it was mostly cars and motorcycles that I put under the microscope. Ever since my active triathlon days, I have been a fan of sports watches and smartwatches; triathlon is history for me, but the passion for watches is still there. That’s why, in parallel with my thesis in theology, I write on Notebookcheck mainly about smartwatches, but also about other news and technologies that interest me.

After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, I moved from Singapore to Cologne in 2014 and started a career as a freelance translator. Most of my translation work focuses on science, engineering and technology. My fascination with computers and portable electronics began at a young age. And I have fond memories of reading countless tech and gaming magazines. Working with Notebookcheck allows me to incorporate my personal interests into my professional work.
