Emergency crews successfully rescued a man who was barely hanging on in a flowing water canal in Cyprus late Sunday night.

According to the Orange County Fire Department, units were dispatched to the channel near Knott Avenue and Cypress Way around 5:45 p.m. after receiving a report of a person trapped in the water.

When they arrived, they found a man barely hanging on to the embankment, half of his body in the moving water.

“Seeing this, firefighters quickly attached a personal flotation device and threw it to the man. While the man was hanging, crews cut through the fence and got to him,” OCFA said. “He was eventually pulled from the canal and assessed for injuries by firefighters. He was taken to the hospital for further care.”
