OMAHA, Neb. – Logan Eggleston walked to the press conference podium after the Texas volleyball season ended Saturday night.

That in itself was not unusual. Eggleston, a team captain for the past four years, has long represented the Longhorns at season-ending media meetings. As a sophomore in 2019, he had to find words to explain Louisville’s shocking Sweet 16 loss. During the breakout season that ended in April 2021, he looked at a Zoom screen and talked about coming up short against Kentucky in the championship game. After Nebraska knocked off the Longhorns in the Elite Eight last season, he broke down talking about seniors Brion Butler and Sydney Petersen leaving UT.

But Saturday night was different.

Flanked by head coach Gerrit Elliott and longtime teammate Asjia O’Neal, Eggleston sat proudly on the CHI Health Center stage. He wore ski goggles, a festive t-shirt and hat, and a huge smile.
