RALEIGH, NC — Martin Nekas scored 2:19 into overtime and the Carolina Hurricanes extended their point streak to 10 games with a 5-4 victory over the Dallas Stars on Saturday at PNC Arena.
Andrei Svechnikov couldn’t convert with a backhand flow from Nechas, but Svechnikov collected the rebound and put it back to Nechas for the net.
“We went straight down the ice with a 2-on-1 with a little bit of back pressure, so there wasn’t a lot of time to play,” Nechas said. “He had a great game with me, it kind of backfired [Dallas defenseman Miro] Heiskanen’s stick came in.”

Teuvo Teravainen and Svechnikov made one goal and one assist, and Anti Raanta Made 26 saves for the Hurricanes (18-6-6), who are 8-0-2 in the streak. Brent Burns had two assists.
“Obviously we’ve got some solid pieces there [have provided] consistent play,” said Carolina coach Rod Brind Amour. “The guys are really working hard. At the end of the day, they take pride in what they do. It shows.”
Joe Pavelski and: Jamie Benn each scored a goal, and Jason Robertson had three assists for the Stars (18-8-6). Scott Wedgwood made 33 saves.
At 13:54 of the second period, Teravainen scored on a 5-on-3 to give the Hurricanes a 3-2 lead when he settled on a one-touch pass from Nechas and took a short shot over Wedgwood’s shoulder. The goal was Teravainen’s first this season.
“Nechi” made a nice pass and I scored a lucky goal,” said Teravainen. “Usually it’s good to shoot it right away and just try to get it up.”

Seth Jarvis At 2:44 of the third period, he made it 4-2 when he hit a backhand into the net for a five-hole.
Tyler Seguin Cut to 4-3 at 9:05 with a redirect Colin Millershot from the right spot.
“You get guys to step up by applying some pressure,” Pavelski said. “There is no failure. “Segs” get a big goal after the draw and give us life. We just keep going.”
Jani Hakanpaa Tied it 4-4 at 10:47 on a one-timer from Robertson that dribbled between Raanta’s pads.
“We just have confidence that we’ve done it before,” Hakanpaa said. “We just keep going forward and trust our game and trust ourselves to get it.”

Stefan Noesen At 6:20, he put the Hurricanes up 1-0 when he clipped Teravainen’s wrist and scored on the power play.
Svechnikov made it 2-0 at 17:03, skating in from the Carolina blue line and firing a wrist shot from the right circle.
Pavelski’s power-play goal made it 2-1 at 18:38 after he turned in Robertson’s shot near the net.
Benn tied it 2-2 at 5:38 of the second on a rebound Miro Heiskanen‘s shot on the power play.
“Big score, down 4-2 in the third, pretty bad all night,” Dallas coach Peter DeBoer said. “I was satisfied with the group.”
NOTES: Pavelski played his 1200th NHL game. … Robertson has 14 points (two goals, 12 assists) in nine games against Carolina. … Benn tied Brian Bellows for second on the Stars/Minnesota North Stars franchise scoring list with 342. Mike Modano leads with 577. … Nekas has 8 career shots on goal. His goal in overtime was the fourth of his career.
