VOORHEES, NJ — Considering Wade Ellison’s number of serious injuries before age 25, you can’t blame him for fearing the worst when he went down in pain on Nov. 12.

“I was saying: “Holy.. “It turns out better than I thought, we’re good.

After missing five weeks with an oblique strain and hamstring strain, Ellison will return Tuesday when the Flyers host the Blue Jackets (7 p.m. ET/NBCSP).

Ellison, who celebrated his 25th birthday on Oct. 13 the day after the Flyers’ regular season opener, returned to the ice in early December. He felt he had turned around in his recovery last week.

“Probably this last week here, I was able to go out and actually work on some things, fully compete out there,” Allison said. “So I can get back to my heart and that mental belief. Every day I feel a little better. This last week here has been really big for me.”

The Flyers (10-15-7) could use his help up front. They’ve struggled to score all season and are missing Cam Atkinson (neck), Sean Couturier (back) and Tanner Laczynski (lower).

Moreover. The season ends before it starts. Atkinson will have neck surgery, Flyers feel for him

“I can see how effective he can be if he just focuses on his game, being who he is,” head coach John Tortorella said of Allison on Monday. “I think he gets lost sometimes. Still a young guy, he’s got to learn, but I think he’s been very coachable. We’ve had a number of conversations.

“I think he played really well when he was injured. I just want him to pick up where he left off.

General manager Chuck Fletcher said Couturier is “doing really well.”

The 30-year-old center, recovering from a second back surgery, could skate in two to three weeks.

Couturier is more than a month and three weeks into his three-to-four month recovery.

Prospect Bobby Brink will see Dr. Christopher Larson in Minneapolis this week in hopes of getting the 21-year-old winger fully cleared. Brink, a 2019 second-round pick, underwent surgery in July to repair a torn labrum in his left femur.

“He’s been skating regularly, but getting into contact, getting into lineups, doing line drills, all of that,” Fletcher said, “I’m hoping it’s going to be really quick for him.
