Quarterback Gardner Minshew will not get any reps during the Eagles’ running practice Tuesday.
Minshew has been pulled from the team’s tour because he will be attending and performing at Mike Leach’s funeral. Leach, who died last week, coached Minshew at Washington State, and the quarterback talked about how much the relationship meant to him.
“He was the first person I’ve ever been around who, in the way he lived and how authentic he was, brought that out in the people around him,” Minshew said, via Jeff McLain. Philadelphia Inquirer. “I’ve never felt more comfortable with myself than when I was with Coach Leach. The way he believed in me, that belief, that’s something that really resonates, and that’s what I say to any parent, coach, teacher. The best thing you can do for a child is to believe in them. And he did that for me, and it changed my life.”
Minshew could start Saturday against the Cowboys because Jalen Hurts has a sprained shoulder and is expected to return to the team’s facility later Tuesday after returning to Philadelphia.
