Another week, another snowstorm in Buffalo that could affect a Bills game
Before a Week 15 game against the team Dolphins, a weather system brought significant snow to Buffalo in the hours leading up to kickoff. Despite the city receiving multiple feet of snow earlier in the year, Saturday’s storm could have some significant effects on the AFC’s eastern slope.
Photos shared by WGRZ Chief Meteorologist Patrick Hammer showed Haymark Stadium covered in a blanket of white around 7:30 a.m. ET, just 12 hours before Saturday’s 8:15 p.m. kickoff. Hammer also reported an hour earlier that there was already eight inches of snow on the ground.
Buffalo is bracing for what could end up being a foot or more of snow as the storm continues throughout the day Saturday and overnight into Sunday. Snow is still expected to fall when Bills-Dolphins kicks off.
The Bills are no strangers to inclement weather, having already moved a game to Detroit the weekend before Thanksgiving due to a storm that brought several feet of snow around Highmark Stadium. However, their competitors may not fare so well under these conditions.
The Dolphins were the talk of the town last weekend when they appeared to use sideline heaters during a 55-degree game against the Chargers in Southern California. Coach Mike McDaniel had some fun with the impending weather in Buffalo this week when he wore a short-sleeve shirt that read: “I wish it was colder.”
He also played down the prediction for Saturday’s game, saying he would do “zero monitoring” before kick-off.
“To me, you just decide if you’re going to let it play out or not and then adjust as much as you can,” McDaniel said, according to ESPN . “There are certain things that become difficult when there’s humidity or it gets to a certain level of cold. But the good news is that there are no different atmospheres on either side. We will play the game with the same elements.”
While McDaniel and the Dolphins may try to put on a brave face, it appears the Bills have a clear advantage in the snowy conditions. Time will tell if Miami can brave the elements when the game kicks off on Saturday at 8:15 PM ET.
