Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant was ejected from their game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday night after he was seen talking to a fan sitting courtside at the Paycom Center.

In the final minute of the second quarter in Oklahoma City, Morant suddenly received two technicals and was ejected, leading to a rather confusing sequence on the floor. Grizzlies players and coaches immediately questioned the officials because it’s unclear exactly what Moran did wrong.

Replays showed Morant was not talking to the official behind him, and his conversation with the fan was not out of the ordinary.

Eventually, Morant walked off the court and gave the fan a heart sign and thumbs up, so clearly he didn’t take anything personally.

Dillon Brooks also received a technical foul during the incident.

The fan looked just as confused as everyone else. Lisa, the audience member in question, was wearing a Morant jersey and is a “Ja Morant Superfan” who lives in the area. Morant’s dad actually came out to find Lisa on FaceTime with Morant so she could talk to him as well. Clearly, Morant wasn’t upset with him.

Morant finished with six points and five rebounds in 16 minutes.

The Grizzlies, coming into Saturday night on a seven-game winning streak, trailed the Thunder 64-43 at halftime. Although they were down by single digits late in the game, their comeback was short lived. The Thunder went on to win 115-109 behind 24 points and 7 rebounds from Lugenz Dort and a career-high 23 points from Isaiah Joy.
