Lizo helped close Saturday Night Live’s Season 48 made his second appearance as the show’s musical guest last night (December 17). He performed “Break Up Twice” as well as Stevie Wonder’s “Someday At Christmas”.

The singer filled in for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, who had to cancel their performance (along with host Austin Butler) as guitarist Nick Zinner continues to recover from pneumonia. Lizzo has appeared before SNL: in April doing double duty as host and music performer.

For the second round, Lizzo stuck to his latest material, offering a dramatized version of it “Break Up Twice” features the singer in a staged bedroom scene. She reappeared in a festive gold and silver dress for a more traditional performance of her cover of “Someday At Christmas,” which also featured on Amazon Music’s new holiday collection.

The most recent Saturday Night Live A big year for Lizzo is coming to an end. He released a Grammy-nominated album SPECIAL in July, shortly after receiving her first Emmy nomination for her show, Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls. The artist also just finished a fall tour at the arena that was memorable for her playing a 209-year-old flute that once belonged to President James Madison.

Most recently, the new documentary Love, Lizo debuts on HBO Max on Thanksgiving, followed by Lizzo on the cable network Live In Concert: special, stream New Year’s Eve. Lizzo is also up for five Grammy nominations, with the ceremony set to air on February 5.

Yes Yes Yes issued a statement along with the news about them on December 10 SNL: cancellation, stating in part: “It’s been a tough week and a tough year for us on the health front, alongside so many artists who are committed to connecting with audiences in the midst of a pandemic. We send our love to our fans and supporters, thank you for your understanding and well wishes, it means the world to us. Wishing you a healthy and happy 2022, we look forward to a strong return in 2023.”
