IN THE LAST ROUND drummer Vinny Appice spoke with the Nothing Shocking podcast about the status of the band’s upcoming third album. He said (as transcribed BLABBERMOUTH.NET“We got an EP that just came out “A day in the life”a BEATLES: song It’s a slight twist on that version. It was doing well. And the rest of the EP had a new song and two live songs from Europe that we did. And the album will be released in March, I think on March 31 earMUSIC:. It’s a German label. They’re a really, really good label, actually planning things around it. And then we’ll be doing some dates too, going out and doing gigs and promoting the album. We have to work around DEF LEPPARD:‘s schedule as they are coming out again with a big tour.
“So it’s all good,” he added. “IN THE LAST ROUND perfect: It’s a great group. We have a lot of fun on stage [and] off the stage. And that’s when it’s cool. When it’s no longer fun, it becomes work. I’m still having fun, thankfully.”
“A day in the life” arrived on November 11 via earMUSIC:. The effort was numbered and limited to 3,000 copies worldwide.
As for how? IN THE LAST ROUNDthe cover of “A day in the life” got together, guitarist Vivian Campbell — who is also a member DEF LEPPARD: – told SiriusXMof “Truck Nation with Eddie Trunk”“Going back to the spring of 2020 when everything shut down, by then we had talked about doing a cover song and had already started cutting the first six tracks for the third album which will be out early next year.
“IN THE LAST ROUND is always live streaming and we look at each other in the studio while we’re doing it; we have a push-pull dynamic,” he continued. “Well, “A day in the life” the only exception to this is that’s our song did not do so. We kind of did it DEF LEPPARD: road by building on the track and reverse engineering it. It was just out of necessity because this was March, April, May 2020 and we couldn’t travel. we couldn’t be together So we basically built the track that way and did it remotely. And that was an interesting thing for us because, like I said, it’s never been something we’ve done before or since.”
When asked if he was a fan THE BEATLES grow up Campbell said:THE BEATLES were great for all of us. The first song I ever learned to play on guitar was that ‘He loves you’. I remember working out the chords when I was a kid on vacation one summer. And I was so confused with myself because I actually figured it out.
“[‘A Day In The Life’] was a pretty ambitious song to admit,” he admitted. “Honestly, I don’t know how we actually got into that song. We were discussing what a suitable and interesting cover can do for us. We didn’t want to do something out of the genre, so it wasn’t like we were trying to AC/DC song or something from the world of hard rock. We decided we wanted to tackle something that would be a little out of left field. I have to say it probably was [bassist] Phil Sousa Who thought of it? “A day in the life”but we certainly didn’t need to be encouraged because, as I said, we’re all massive, massive BEATLES: fans And it’s such an ambitious song to take on, with time changes and key changes and so on, especially to do it the way we had to do it, in this distant way. But it was good to the extent that it actually gave us some incentive to do something and move forward. As I said, this was the spring of 2020, and all of a sudden, all plans were put on hold. So it was good for us to continue to push the group forward and continue that progress.”
