Gangsta BooThe Memphis rapper who scored a hit with “Where Dem Dollas At” and was one of the most prominent voices in southern hip-hop has reportedly died.
Agreed Fox 13:00, his neighbor found him dead on his balcony. The cause of death of the rapper, who was born Lola Chantrell Mitchell, is unknown.
Mitchell was the second woman to join Three 6 Mafia in the early ’90s, and after she left the group, she continued to record mixtapes and appear on singles such as Gucci Mane, La Chat, and more. When he was fifteen, he contributed to Three 6 Mystic Stylez album and his untimely death remained in Memphis.
In 1998, Boo released his debut album Investigative thoughts Featuring “Where Dem Dollas At,” which became a regional hit. In an article covering the best southern rap songs of the 1990s, writer Dylan Greene wrote of the song: “Even with Mafia founders Juicy J and DJ Paul’s verses on the back of ‘Where Dem Dollas At,’ Gangsta Boo’s aggressive nonsense was absorbed.” all the attention, further creating a space for women in southern hip-hop and beyond.”
Three 6 Mafia DJ Paul confirmed Mitchell’s death on Instagram with a simple photo of him behind a pair of turntables.
