He found himself boring at first

In a video published by 102.7 KIIS FM radio station, Katy (38) commented that she once had the opportunity to collaborate. Billie Eilish and he said no. The occasion was Billie’s debut single ‘Ocean Eyes’ before she became a multiple Grammy winner, something Perry has not achieved in her career.

Perry commented that someone emailed her asking her to “check out this new artist. I would really like us to work with him because he worked with me for Unsub Records,’” he recalled, without specifying who sent him the email.

“It was a song called ‘Ocean Eyes,’ and it was just a blonde girl,” Perry continued. “And I was like, ‘Meh, boring.’ Big mistake. Big mistake. Don’t let this get on the internet,” he joked.

They have been friends ever since

That joke happened in 2015, the year Elish debuted and Katy was dominating the charts and the biggest star on the planet. Since then, Billy has won seven Grammys, a Golden Globe and an Oscar. Not bad for a girl who was underestimated by Perry.

But since then, Cathy and Billy have become friends. His documentary, 2012 “Billie Eilish. The world is a little blurry” the moment they met backstage at Coachella and Perry introduced her to her then-boyfriend Orlando Bloom.
