Gwendoline Christie has starred in major franchises such as Game of Thrones and: Star Wars but the actor still gets starstruck by other Hollywood personalities. It wednesday The star recently recalled her first meeting with Tim Burton and detailed how awkward it was.
Christie spoke to WWD where she revealed that her agent texted her saying Burton wanted to talk to her about taking part. The Adams Family Netflix series.
“I stopped and was silent. I’m pretty sure I atomized it,” he told the publication. “And then by some mysterious force I was reassembled into something that was at least partially human, and I had to just put the phone away and keep working. I didn’t even say a little bit because I just had to process it.”
Christie and Burton met over a Zoom call, and the director also said he was a fan of her work. The star is best known for his role Game of Thrones as Brienne of Tarth.
“At the end [of the call], I was really red in the face and said: “I’m sorry, I’m just so confused and overwhelmed.” And he said: “God, I want to hide under the table,” she said.
The meeting seems to have gone well for Christie as she ended up playing the lead Larissa Weems in the Netflix series. Christie has been well received by the audience and to be recognized for her work is something very special for her.
“It is simply unimaginable. I think the coolest thing is that it seems to have made so many people happy. Such a wide range of different age groups watch it and different people watch it together. And that’s a beautiful thing,” he explained. “This magnitude of response is completely unexpected and I’m just grateful to everyone involved for putting in so much effort and to everyone watching and enjoying it. I really do. It’s very special.”
