Stephen Colbert had some harsh words to say about Don Lemon’s outfit CNN this morning. The late night show host is gone The Late Show: to express his displeasure with Lemon’s fit, which he didn’t think was right for a news program.
Although Colbert said Lemon is a “dear, dear friend” and that he enjoys watching him on “CTM,” Strangers with Candy Schieb said she was “gobsmacked” by Lemon, who was wearing a jacket with a hooded gray shirt and slacks.

“I think that a great man once said: “What is that?” Colbert added. “I know they want to add comedy to CNN, and this is fun, but how do you break that news with that outfit? How do you really talk about tragedy wearing it, because what could be more tragic than the way she looked this morning?’
Colbert went on to poke fun at Lemon’s outfit, saying she looked like “a high school teacher who went for a run and then got a little hungry and stopped at a restaurant, but it was a really good restaurant, and they were like, ‘Hey! “Sir, you should wear a jacket.” Then he stole a jacket from his friend Guys and Dolls“.
Lemon addressed Colbert’s criticism on CNN’s morning show, saying he “loves Stephen Colbert” and said he “didn’t expect that” reaction from him.
“First of all, it’s not a sweatshirt or anything. It was a sweater with a hood on it,” Lemon explained to co-writer Caitlan Collins. “Anyway, I don’t know if I want to get into it because I was really surprised by it.”
Lemon went on to say that she wears different outfits on the morning show, and when she took the job, she was asked to “be more comfortable.” A TV reporter said that “people don’t wear suits as much” and “a lot has changed since the epidemic.”
“I was just curious that there was a response because I got a lot of negative feedback online,” she said.
Lemon said she now “understands” her female colleagues who are criticized for their outfits.
“If Barack Obama can be criticized for wearing a tan suit, if Vladimir Zelensky can fight a war in a bandana, if Trayvon Martin can start a revolution in a bandana, then Don Lemon can tell the news in a hoodie,” he added.
Collins asked Lemon if he would wear the outfit again, and he replied, “Sure, and I’ll wear it again, wear some variation of it.”
