1. Waltair Veeraya. The film opened with housemates amid the festival frenzy. Fans of both Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja patronized the openings and the final talk that the film had lighter moments with vintage Chiranjeevi’s performance, the family audience started filling the theatres.

The collections have been impressive over the long weekend and it has topped the list. The audience response both in India and abroad for the film is the highest this season. The film stood as a Sankranthi winner.

2. Veera Simha Reddy. This Balakrishna starrer has been released amid fan buzz. The openings were quite large initially but suddenly saw a steep decline from the second day onwards. TDP groups have tried their best to show artificial entries by making bulk bookings.

An overdose of violence and serious drama without the lighter moments of the story made the film limited to a limited audience. Collections saw a downward trend throughout the weekend.

3. Vaarasudu. The film has received lukewarm response in all the centres. Although the film was directed by a Telugu director and a popular Telugu producer, the audience accepted it as a dubbed film due to the hero.

The film attracted those who really enjoy watching the story of a rich business family on screen. Vijay tried his luck competing against homegrown heroes Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna, but finished third in the list.

4. Tegimpu. The film was declared a total failure on the very first day. The heavy action drama confined to one location throughout the film did not go down well with most of the audience.

Extensively experimenting with past Hollywood films, this didn’t sit well with domestic audiences. This Pongal season, Ajith ended up at the Telugu box office.

5. Kalyanam Kammaneeyam. Before the festival season was filled with the hype of two big straight movies and two big dubbed movies. movie Kalyanam Kamaneyam ventured into the arena and occupied several screens.

Although it is different from the rest of the high dose and high voltage films, the stale story and predictable narration failed to spread positive buzz about the film.

The shortest ever movie in recent times failed to test the energy of the audience but at the same time failed to capture the hearts as well.
