Tom Cruise jumped out of a plane once again, this time to give another thank you to Top Gun.
Hello everyone, here we are in stunning South Africa filming Mission: Impossible. “I didn’t want the year to end without thanking you all for coming out to the theater and thanking ‘Top Gun.’ To support Maverick.
A little over 20 seconds in, the camera starts to reveal Christopher McQuarrie, who is returning to Mission Impossible to direct Dead Reckoning. Macquarie also wrote Top Gun. Maverick” and directed the action film alongside Cruise and David Ellison.
McQuarrie also thanks fans of the “Top Gun” franchise before turning his attention back to Cruise. “Hey listen, we really need to roll. We have to get this shot.”
Cruise grins, nonchalantly points the gun at Macquarie before immediately jumping out of the plane, presumably next to the cameraman. With his entire body extended into a starfish position to combat air resistance, Cruise turned his attention to the camera and resumed his speech.
“As always, thanks for letting us entertain you. It is truly the honor of a lifetime. I’m passing out from the high so I have to get back to work. We need to get this shot. Have a very safe and happy holiday. See you at the movies,” Cruise concludes, before taking her downwind to the ocean.
“Top Gun. Maverick remains the highest-grossing film of the year, earning $718 million domestically and $1.4 billion worldwide.
“The mission is impossible. dead reckoning part one’ will feature the return of several other franchise veterans such as Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby and Henry Cerny. The official trailer sees Cruise in a number of action-packed sequences, such as a nightclub fistfight, a chase atop a moving train, and of course, lots of landings.
Mission: Impossible – Fallout: Part One opens in theaters on July 14, 2023, from Paramount Pictures. Sequel to Mission Impossible. Dead Account Part Two’ is currently slated to hit screens on June 28, 2024.
