CJ HarrisThe former participant of “American Idol”, who appeared in the top 6 in 2014, has died.
A family member says CJ suffered an apparent heart attack Sunday night in Jasper, Alabama…he was taken by ambulance to a local hospital but did not make it.
Fans of the show remember Jasper’s hometown jury audition in 2014 in Salt Lake City … blowing them away with his version of the Allman Brothers Band’s “Soulshine.”
Judge Keith Urban CJ said. “You sing because you have to, not because you want to.” And I mean that in the deepest way. And that’s why it’s so believable and real.
After his incredible audition, CJ rocked America with powerful versions of “Too Close,” “American Woman” and “Free Fallin’.” He was chosen by the judges as a wild card in the semi-finals, due to not receiving enough votes, to remain in the competition before being eliminated before reaching the top 6.
After “Idol”, CJ performed Darius Rucker at The Grand Ole Opry, someone she says was a huge influence on her style. He even played for audiences on the tour of the competition show’s 13th season.
He was only 31 years old.
