“We’ll miss you, Cecily.” Saturday Night Live shared on Instagram

It’s Cecily Strong joining a number of former cast members as he departs Saturday Night Live tonight, December 17th. Saturday Night Live announced the news hours before the last show of 2022 aired.

“Tonight we’re sending out one of the best that ever did it.” SNL: announced on Instagram. “We’ll miss you, Cecily.” they captioned a photo sharing the same sentiment in marker.

Fans probably knew this was coming. At first, when Strong wasn’t present for the Oct. 1 season 48 premiere, many wondered if he was joining the many mainstays who recently departed. Saturday Night Live — including Kate McKinnon, Pete Davidson, Aidy Bryant and Kyle Mooney; and later Chris Redd, Alex Moffat, Melissa Villaseñor along with Aristotle Atari. Strong’s absence at the time could be attributed to her role in the revival of the one-woman show, Searching for signs of intelligent life in spacewhich took place at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles.

He came back SNL: after the Los Angeles show on October 23rd. The 48th season marked Strong’s 11th complete season, setting a record. Strong is: SNL:the longest-serving female cast member, surpassing McKinnon, who left the show at the end of Season 47, along with Davidson, Bryant, and Mooney.


Strong joined the cast in 2012 as a featured player, and the following season, he became a cast member and anchored Weekend Update. With Seth Meyers, later joining Colin Jost on The Weekend desk She is nominated for both the 2020 and 2021 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Last week, Strong appeared in the cold open, where he sang a Christmas carol alongside actors who grilled Elon Musk and Hitler fan Kanye West.
