Cecily Strong leaves Saturday Night Live after 11 seasons of the show. A social media post from the official Instagram account for the sketch show confirmed Strong’s departure.
“We will miss you Cecily,” read the sign that went viral, while the caption of the post read: We will miss you, Cecily.”
The final episode of Strong is scheduled for Saturday, December 17, with Austin Butler as host and Lizo as the musical guest.
Strong made his debut SNL: as a prominent player in 2012 on September 15 and picked up the following year with a 39th season. The comedy star anchored the “Weekend Update” segment alongside Seth Meyers. When Meyers left to host Late nightStrong went on to co-anchor the segment alongside SNL: writer Colin Yost for one season.
Some of Strong’s best-known recurring characters on the NBC sketch show include The Girl You Wish You Didn’t Strike Up at a Party, Dana, the loud and unfriendly retail clerk, and Cryan, the co-host of The Girlfriends Talk Show. , Kathy Ann, Michael Che’s drug addict neighbor, among others.
Throughout his tenure SNL:, Strong had a strong celebrity impersonation game. Some of the most memorable include Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Judge Jeanine Pirro, and recently Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake with her Zoom filters.
