Britney Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, spoke publicly this weekend for the first time in more than a decade, a year after the singer graduated from conservatory.
In an interview with Sunday’s Daily Mail:, she openly addressed the court decision and defended her role in her daughter’s 13-year custody. He also said he doesn’t know if he would be alive without it.
“Not everyone is going to agree with me,” Jamie Spears said. “It was a hell of a time. But I love my daughter with all my heart and soul. Where would Britney be without that protection? And I don’t know if he would be alive. not me”.
The father said he was “not going to paint pretty pictures”, but the court order has protected Britney Spears in difficult times.
“Conservation was a great tool to protect her as well as the children. “Without that, I don’t think she would have brought the kids back,” he added.
In November 2021, a Los Angeles judge granted the motion to end the arrangement in less than a 30-minute hearing. It came after Britney Spears’ emotional testimony that summer, in which she claimed the conservatory was abusive and wanted to end it. The singer was allowed to hire her own attorney for the first time after testifying, leading to an investigation into the alleged abuse.
Then, after more than a decade of the #FreeBritney movement and years of fans assuming Britney Spears was unhappy, the singer was freed by a court order.
Now Britney Spears lives in Los Angeles with her husband, model Sam Asgari. In April, she announced that she is expecting her first child from Asghari. The following month, Britney Spears announced that she had suffered a miscarriage. She also has two sons, Jaden and Preston, with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
Jamie Spears lives with her other daughter, Jamie Lynn Spears, in rural Louisiana. He said Daily Mail: that he should be careful what he says because he doesn’t want to cause the singer heartache.
“I miss my two boys [Jayden and Preston] really, really bad,” said Jamie Spears. “I agree. You know, we were very, very close. They were about that age where you could start having a good time with them. But they were developing their own minds. God makes something happen. “I don’t know why, but it’s been a tough three years without them. The family is in turmoil. All we can do is keep praying.”
Britney Spears’ entrance with her two sons was also part of the conservatory. Although Federline was originally granted full custody of them, Jamie Spears said she made an arrangement with Federline so they could spend time with their mother.
“They did not miss time with their mother. They did not miss time with their father. Not many people knew that. The main goal was to return Britney to a comfortable relationship with the children,” he said. “My relationship with Kevin gave them a sense of peace and protection. Kevin will tell you this too. we raised the children. I just did what I had to do or felt I had to do.’
Jamie Spears also claims the conservatorship helped build her daughter’s finances because “she was broke” and “had no money.”
“My idea of a conservatory is to help someone rebuild their life and get back into society and be able to live a normal life,” he added. “I mean I made a difference. I had some people behind me that really helped get it to the point where we could help him.”
But from an outsider’s perspective, many disagreed. In January 2019, the singer canceled her second planned Vegas residency due to hiatus. A few months later, she entered a mental institution, and fans soon began to speculate that her father had admitted her against her will. The #FreeBritney movement also claimed that the conservatory was restricting the singer.
“All I can say is that most people have no idea what the truth is,” Jamie Spears said in response to the allegations. “His lawyer has no idea what the truth is. The media did not hear the truth. They heard Britney’s accusations. I don’t mind the beating because I know it’s not right and because I don’t want to start something else. So that my daughter ends up going even further down the hole than she was.”
