In the days and weeks following Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, the new CEO promised that with his great power would come great responsibility, which included not banning an account that tracked his private jet.

Well, that was a lie.

Following the suspension of Jack Sweeney’s ElonJet, an automated Twitter bot that regularly posted information about Musk’s jet flight times and locations, a new home was created on Reddit Wednesday for the ElonJet account. Like Sweeney’s Twitter bot, Redditors at r/ElonJetTracker are using public flight tracking and transmitter data to see where the billionaire travels when he’s not working.”At Twitter SF HQ all night“.

Elon Musk shut down Twitter after clashing with banned journalists

A subreddit dedicated to tracking Musk’s private jet has become the site’s third-fastest growing subreddit, with over 67,000 members and growing as of this writing. Along with Sweeney’s Twitter ban on Wednesday, moderators posted the following message on his forum with links to track Musk’s plane:

“Given the recent attempt to withhold public information about the location of a corporate jet, funded in part by US taxpayers, this community will help make this publicly available information readily available. Please spread the word!!!

Posts on the subreddit range from users dedicated to responding to Musk’s tweets with the current location of his plane to others pointing out the billionaire’s hypocritical stance on free speech. One post on the subreddit with over 2,700 upvotes says they don’t even care about Elon’s plane, “but to preserve free speech I’ve downvoted and will be checking this sub constantly from now on.”

For context, Sweeney’s ban and the creation of r/ElonJetTracker come at a very volatile time for Twitter, as the social media platform’s list of problems just keeps growing. Sweeney was just one of several accounts, many belonging to prominent mainstream journalists, that were banned or suspended by Musk for allegedly violating Twitter’s policy on doxxing, the act of disclosing personal information about a person for harassing or malicious purposes. . Musk claims Sweeney’s and others’ accounts were used to help a “crazy stalker” who he believes was following him and his son late Tuesday.

Many of those accounts have now been restored.

Agreed InsiderMusk offered Sweeney $5,000 to settle the Elon Jet account, but was turned down and offered $50,000 instead; Musk has since blocked Sweeney.

Musk’s antics have come from major Tesla investors and even the United Nations. Meanwhile, on December 16, Musk reinstated the accounts of right-wing election-denying celebrities and QAnon followers such as Mike Lindell and James O’Keefe.
